CRIMINAL RECORD N7 -ANTI PASTI

ANTI PASTI - CAUTION TO THE WIND
This entry into our bad record list is an album recorded in 1982 on the 'rondelet music records' label, it followed a run of singles by the band that had done quite well.
probably the single that had really marked them out was their first e.p, the 'four sore points' single, at the time it seemed you couldn't go round to someones house who didn't own the single, yet it was only a couple of years at the most that this LP by the band arrived in the record shops.
the whole album sounds like the band were trying to prove something by sounding like the teardrop explodes musical ugly little brother.
I'm sorry to the band because i liked their singles (i left one on the bus once by mistake, i was really upset) but this album just isn't for me, i say this now because i found the LP in a charity shop for 50p recently and got it, i admit i didn't buy the LP on at its release but i think I'm glad because i would of gone mad had i paid top price for it.
at least with hindsight i can see that punk was at the time having a mini crisis. many bands at the time tried to keep things fresh by "changing direction" (the usual excuse), i cant blame them for that but for many it had the opposite effect from the one that was hoped for (take the adicts or 'adx' for example) and this LP comes close to that
by that i mean they should of stuck to what they knew and progressed at a slower speed and more natural speed instead of changing the sound over night, they may have even improved that way. (if that's what happened of course).
sorry boys but this isn't an LP that will get stacked up on my dansette player any time soon.
