COCK-UP-SPARRER- BOLTON BELONGS TO ME. .

Now, for the last few years cocksparrer have been only playing one gig a year that the great British unwashed can go to- in theory. the bands master plan seems to only play that single gig in the north of England, looking at their website i see that they are playing this years gig in the center of England, all very well if you come from a close place, got £200+ to spend on travel and accommodation (not all of us are into sleeping under a bush with our £8 nylon sleeping bags) or a vehicle to sleep in and food to eat. that's if you get a ticket, and that is without the on-off train time changes that even Mussolini couldn't get running on bloody time if he tried!
but what if you come from Cornwall (no jokes) or the Kent or Essex estuary coast, if you do you would be paying a small fortune in fares, and thats before the drinks a roof after the gig and some food.
and what if you are unemployed, a carer or disabled in some way? then getting to the one single gig would be nigh impossible. it appears that the band are more happy to play regular gigs in America than in England!
looking on a map their venue for this year does seem a good place to play, being situated in the middle of England, but the only problem with that idea is that England isn't circular! and the travel costs and ease of travelling to the venue vary according to where in england you live. quite simply, making it to the gig is not an option, its just too far away or expensive for many people.
would it be too hard to play just one or two gigs in the south? its not like we have a shortage of venues "doon eya leek".
so come on chaps, are you not the band that wrote 'London belongs to me'? (before the label asked them to change it to England, it says so on the record cover berk.)
i would imagine the name change also caused the band a mixed bag of reactions wouldn't you say!
so chaps, how about playing a gig that us poor grovelling unwashed southerners can afford to attend. (please)
If the rejects can play gigs in London that are trouble free then i don't see why you cant. and as for a gig ending in political violence, i think that it would of happened at your annual morcome residency by now if it was going to happen at all, or am i wrong?
so c'mon chaps, loathe as i am to end this piece with the quote "where are they now"? you leave me no choice.
