I'm going back a bit on this one so cast your mind back to the last world cup.
With all the hoo-har going on around the (soccer) world cup going on there were many news events that were missed both trivial and important ones.
but the missed piece of news that i got late due to anyone in Britain's ability to see past our badly playing team that any idiot could see were not going to win anything was the belated news of the death of ska singer MR Desmond Dekker.
surely the press could of taken a bit of space away from what the players wives and girlfriends were wearing to announce his death. Desmond was not only known as a ska singer, he also sang reggae, lovers rock and even pop in his long career, and even right up till his death he still deserved the nick-name he was once given as 'the silk lined voice, he even had a great stage presence when he was well into advancing years.
he was on of the west indies best ever singer's and he will be sorely missed by an army of loyal fans who went to see him whenever and he played, and at every venue in Europe he would have fanatics who had been fans for years. i saw him twice, and he was fucking great! one of that brand of singers who don't come along often, bloody 'Mr potato head' Wayne Rooney and his big headed show off girlfriend getting in Desmond's way, the press has no respect. and a massive 'big up' to you Desmond, rest in peace.
