RAMONES BOX SET.

I'm not that prone to walking into HMV record shops, partly because of the horrid Kylie type 'pop' that the shops loudly blare out and partly because they very often don't (or wont) sell what i want (its impossible to get a copy of the 'only stupid bastards buy EMI' LP in an HMV).
but i 'had' to go into an HMV to buy my wee one a copy of the beyonce and shakira single (the shame of it, i felt like a perv!) and while i plucked up the courage to ask for a copy, like a teenager buying his first packet of condoms i saw a box set by the Ramones.
so, sniffingly i picked up a copy and found that (although around a year old), for £6 you got 2 Cd's of 85 Ramones tracks in what is the best compilation from the band since the 'its alive' LP, and it also had a mini hardback book with great photos of the band through the years and a long history of the band that is well written and includes some surprises and some funny stories of the band, although it didn't mention the way the band treated Dee Dee (even after he left the band he was writing songs for them and many got credited to 'the Ramones', but that is their business, oh no, its not anymore, now they are all dead- apart from the drummer with the big wig).
the only problem with the book is that the author arse licks the band rotten in places, but for £6 it is a brilliant compilation with their best tracks picked (and it even includes versions of motorhead's R.A.M.O.N.E.S, plus old songs not widely released before, -'carbona not glue' and 'chinese rocks') and worth every penny it is, so get one before they run out because the bloke behind the counter told me the box sets were very popular ( the spotty youth had never heard of them til people started buying the sets!- "oh the youth of today, in my day blah blah blah....").
and 85 tracks is a good amount of songs for so cheap in a big pop music chain shop.
