a review- THE ENEMY, 'a message to you rudI'. STIFF records.

yes, it does say stiff records, they must be back in business because the 45 single ive got has a sticker on it promising "all 3 formats for £3", the label has retreated to its original look and wording on the cover and record middle and would be identical except for the cover being made of cardboard instead of paper.
although the whole thing could just be a publicity stunt for the band or the record company, a tax break even.
and what of the record? well, its by a band called 'the enemy', although its not the old '50,000 dead' 1980's punk band but a new one featuring ('none other than') neville staples from the specials (so the middle label tells us).
the single is a live recording of the specials 'version' of 'a message to you rudi', it sounds like it was either a great gig or it was just cheaply recorded because the sound quality is terrible, like a dodgy bootleg. saying that, you do get the feeling that it was a good gig but it just doesnt come over very well on the single, sorry. shame really because i like that song as well, just not this version.
