WHATS THAT SMELL? -OH, ITS THE AUDIENCE.

I used to be quite a fan of the (British) sub humans and would quite often go to see them until they split whenever it was in the 1980's, after that half the band formed 'culture shock' who i also thought were good.
but then the band once again morphed, this time into 'citizen fish', they were/are o.k but when their first LP came out its impact was dulled by a line in an anti meat eating song that went "if you really think that'll make you ill, then eat a bottle of vitamin pills!" followed by a da da da da der der der bass line that sounded hilarious even to vegetarians and fans.
i never got past their first LP.
but then in the sometime in the 1990's the band re-morphed back into the sub humans (full circle man) and it had been a good ten years or more since i had seen the sub humans so i went along to the debut of the reformed band at a venue called 'the venue' in new cross.
i went along with a group of other people who also were fans and we were happy to get in because by the time we arrived the venue was almost full and it was already hot inside.
the audience seemed to have changed in the time since the band had split and re-formed, we noticed that there was more than one forehead tattooed with the magic words 'special brew' and the facial piercing seemed to have been rubbed with dung immediately after the procedure was finished so that maximum swelling and infection was attained, this audience were pure crust!
it wasn't long (we all noticed when entering but didn't say anything) that someone mentioned that they could smell something really bad, we all agreed and wondered where it was coming from, well, it didn't take us long to realise that it was the audience! some of the worst ones stunk so bad, like the gang of punks i used to know who would piss in the corner of their own bedrooms and used to shit in the bath because there was no water (the bath and pooh was mysteriously short of any kind of bum wipe as well) in their squats, they would move to the next squat when there was nowhere left to shit in or on, Ive heard since that most of them are dead, nice!
anyway, before long the heat of the full venue was making the condensation run down the walls and the smell was getting worse, when the subhumans came on it had almost become unbearably hot and stinking and despite being well away from the front we were boiling, and we were also getting paranoid that one of us was going to breathe in something unhealthy!
by now the 'people pong' was starting to interfere with watching the band, so much so that I'm sad to say that i missed the end of the sub humans set because the whole crowd of us were becoming nauseous and a couple were feeling sick and we had to get out before we were ill.
so after all, the excitement of going to see the sub humans again after so long was ruined by the stench of their fans.
I'm not making this up, we were honestly scared to touch anything because the whole venue was damp with stinking condensation and and it was running down the walls leaving us no place to lean against or touch out of fear. as you passed some people you get a slap in the nostrils from the stink of them, all shitty and stinky body odour (with never washed clothes that would run away let alone stand up by them selves). it was the last time i saw the sub humans.
has anyone seen then recently and does the audience still stink? i would be pleased to hear.
