We all have skeletons rattling around in our musical closets and mine happens to be the who (an inheritance from my dad), and i was just about to put on a who LP when i had a strange feeling, it was the same feeling that i had when Gary glitter was first in court and i wasn't sure if i could get away with playing his singles (that Ive had since i was little), now you wont find a glitter record in my collection, well not in plain view anyway, and i certainly wouldn't play them!
Its just this niggling feeling i have about Pete's 'slap on the wrist' from the coppers for downloading kiddie porn that is bothering me, he got off so lightly because as he said "i was molested myself as a child and I'm researching material for a book".
we all know that the victims can grow up to be molesters themselves (look at Israel!) and its been a few years now since Pete announced his reasons for the porn, yet there is still no book, WHERES THE BOOK PETE?
so Pete, whappen? should we start calling you uncle Ernie?
in hindsight townshend has been crying out for help for years, theres not only the 'Tommy' show/film and LP, take the song 'behind blue eyes' (recently slaughtered by limp bizkit) now that's about a bloke who is twisted inside and is begging for help, and that was 1971! was the world so star struck and up the stars arses that no-one honestly saw that this man was telling us what he was going to do if he didn't get help? he was letting us know via his lyrics for years and yet he was ignored, and now look where Pete is- he's on the sex offenders register.
yet he is allowed to carry on as if nothing has happened, i know that if i was on the list i wouldn't be allowed to tour the bloody world, maybe David icke is on to something after all.
but if Pete is writing his book then i would be pleased to hear about it (i wouldn't want to read it , it sounds like it would be grim reading, not my cup of cha).
we must be told.
