When zero hour was collating its last issue (that never saw got printed because of a dungaree wearing man hater who denied me access to the printer) i had included an article about the one and only hardcore band in Iraq.
Before the 'coalition of the killing' invaded, the band (with the biggest mouthful of a name) were able to play gigs freely in Iraq without any risk, apart from having to compose a song to 'celebrate' their 'beloved' dear leader Saddam and his 'great works' called 'youth of today' ("that was just lies and shit" said bassist firas al lateef) the band saw their chance to escape Iraq and maybe stay alive unlike many of Iraq's singers and bands who were either killed or banned from singing/playing evermore, they even had a web link you could go to a watch them play a couple of their tunes, zero hour was going to put the link in the issue that never was, but then the link disappeared and the news was that the band had all been killed by some group of nutter's out to kill for god (one band member said some time later that "most of our fans are dead or have left the country"). their rehearsal space of six years was even blown apart by a rocket so it looked like the end of ACRASSICAUDA (for the divs out there its pronounced ' a-crass-i-cauda') which was a shame because this band were actually quite good, even if they did look a bit funny with their neat short hair, moustaches and metalicca tops.
But it seems that all is not lost because instead of getting killed they had fled to Syria and wisely kept their heads down for some time. that was until film maker suroosh alvi managed to track them down and has made a film of them for vbs.TV the web arm of 'vice magazine'.
now suroosh is trying to contact Sharon Osbourne to try and get them a slot on an ozz fest tour (yawn), but its better than nothing and they deserve a chance, and if you want to catch a glimpse of them then go to
www.vbs.tv
sorry, the bloody link isn't working at the moment so you will have to use your fingers, but they are worth hearing because they are a good hardcore band, even though they were cut off from most of the musical world for so long.
oops ive got the link working now so life has just got easier, although im tempted to blame the computer and its age im reminded of the old saying that "a bad workman always blames his tools" in which case its because im a div that the link didnt work earlier. bye.
