The GUARDIAN newspaper has gone one further than just giving away a copy of the SEX PISTOLS/ BILL GRUNDY interview in a booklet, they have today given away a copy of the audio recording of the interview on a CD entitled 'Great interviews of the 20th century' that also features the likes of JOHN LENNON, RICHARD NIXON, DENNIS POTTER, FRANCIS BACON and LADY DI. it has a really corny introduction to it ( as have all the other interviews that share the CD with the PISTOLS) but is still an amusing listen despite what i said when the booklet was given out.
listening to it is actually better than reading the transcript in the booklet given away in the week past but it sadly has an afterword that jumps in the moment the interview finishes that is as cringe making as the foreword.
But as fun as the minute and a half interview is, I'm sure the copies will either end up being horded to be hopefully sold in the future on eBay by people eager to make money from SEX PISTOLS collectors, or it will end up in the recycling bins of the GUARDIAN/INDEPENDENT readers leafy suburb homes or in the nice parts of the readers cities.
Sadly the CD is inside the sealed plastic bag with all the free mags so its not easy to just shake it out of the paper, so if you did want it you would have to either buy the paper or hide the mag bag in another cheaper paper, but i wouldn't advise such an illegal act, no no of course not "don't do it".
