FREE 'BLONDIE' CD

The STAR ON SUNDAY has followed up their free RAMONES CD with another by their C.B.G.B.G'S mates BLONDIE.
Not bad if you are a Blondie fan, "another chance to own their songs that i already have" i imagine you thinking, "but hold on, haven't i seen these tracks on another free CD somewhere else?" you think, why yes you have. the same songs appeared on a CD given away with the MAIL ON SUNDAY, tracks one and two are even the same songs in the same order. the only song that makes a difference is the addition of 'call me' on the STAR CD, that and it is all live, recorded in 2004, as you can tell by the vocal 'ad- libs' during the musical breaks in the records. other than that, the biggest difference is the free tracks that come in after the generous 'seven' track give away.
Musically this CD is an over produced live recording and the band has gone to far with the songs and have filled every available aural space with a 'funky' break or a vocal, keyboard, drum and/or guitar solo even when it's not needed, making the band sound more like a middle of the road 80's pop act rather than the 'pop- punk' band from the 1970's, even when they are playing the 70's songs. its not their best moment and is a wonder why it was released even for free! (heart of glass really stretches DEBBIE HARRY'S voice (and heart rate) to its limits -ouch!) and there is also "sing along, i love you all" banter as well that makes me cringe.
Plus, like the RAMONES CD given away recently by the same paper, the 'bonus' tracks are longer and there is more of them than of the band that the CD is supposedly featuring, making me wonder who's benefit the CD was released for.
But since both CD'S are crammed with shit M.O.R 'dance' music totally out of place with the band named on the cover and made by one STEWART DUGDALE i can only imagine it is for him, a hell of a way of getting your music known, hijacking other peoples CD'S, did he think no-one would notice? or maybe the wallah's at THE STAR told DUGDALE "that punk fans are stupid and will not notice till they are tapping along to your music by which time they will be hooked" they are sadly mistaken (but the law of averages says that someone will like them -so lucky you, who ever you are), someone into 70's NEW YORK PUNK will i think notice the bongo's and mellow ambient chart/dance grooves. but i doubt punk CD'S are the place to push such music (even over produced live 'pop' -punk ones), then again, i could be wrong but...
P.S, im listening to the 'mood music' now and the only mood it is putting me in is a bad one!
