"FECK THE PHONE NUMBERS, WHERES YOUR MONEY ?"One of the most successful and famous PUB/PUNK ROCK crossover bands, and one i forgot to mention in the PUB ROCK article below was THE BOOMTOWN RATS.
For a while the bands mixing of 'hard rocking' R'N'B and PUNK made them one of the best live bands to see at the time (which you could never of heard by listening to their records which were terrible, apart from some of their early singles which came close), and musically? (since 1977 BOB has both denied and boasted that THE BOOMTOWN RATS were and were not a punk band, this happened at different times depending on the timing and situation.) musically, from about 1978 onwards we all know what happened next.
But all was not as it seems, and it appears that lead singer SAINT BOB, the patron saint of dying equatorial nations wasn't as blessed as he appears because the other members of his once 'proud' band have re-united and got in touch with BOB.
But the 'Reunion' isn't for the purpose of getting together again for the odd gig for old times sake, its because the rest of the old RATS are a bit peeved with the one man saviour of the third world and are of a mind that SAINT BOB wasn't entirely honest with the way the BOOMTOWN RATS money was shared out, judging by their accusations, the sainted one has taken more than his fair share of the bands royalties and he has been getting an unfair cut of the money that has left the rest of the band out of pocket.
Whether the 'holy fecker' can get out of this one clean or he has his 'holier than god' reputation tarnished only time will tell.
