Not long back i was taking a look round the net and was just typing in names to see what would come up and when i tapped in the name of CHARLIE HARPER.
When i did i was confronted with the terrible and horrific news that the 'elder statesman' of punk had shuffled off what was assumed to be his worn, torn and rusty but otherwise immortal coil.
Could it be? Was the 'endangered species' now extinct? (and had he been 'blown to pieces'?) And if so, who was going to cut the old ladies hair on pensioners day at the 'CHES HARPER UNISEX HAIR AND BEAUTY BOUTIQUE'?
Shaken, i looked at the Google(c) 'page' full of different sites devoted to the sad demise of CHARLES and concluded -it must be true (sob, wail, gnash).
So it was with trembling hands that i entered one of the multitude of sites and, stifling back a soft sob i peeked through one soggy tear filled eye to see that CHARLIE HARPER had indeed passed away, but...
HUZZAH!!! it wasn't the head of the 'barmy London army' at all, no no. It was too good to be true but it was (true i mean), the UK SUBS singer was still six feet above ground and breathing (truth be told I'm not sure about the breathing part but hes still kicking I'm told), So who was this CHARLEY HARPER that had passed away? one clue could lay in the spelling of the name, the two charlies differ in the way the end of charlie is spelt, one ends in 'ey' (Charley) and one in 'ie' (Charlie).
There is also a photo that is said to be of CHARLIE HARPER (below right)
but there have been some dissenting voices that point out that "both 'CHARLIES' are old men so the bloke in the picture could be either one of them". We at ZERO HOUR say that this is utter poppycock and bunkum. It is ridiculously easy to tell the UK SUBS man and the other duffer apart because only one CHARLIE wears a MISFITS t-shirt, and it ain't the bloke in the photo, no sirree.

Who the dead CHARLEY is i don't know, all i know is that he isn't alive and that a lot of people are sad about it and have put loads of pages up on the net.
R.I.P the other CHARLEY HARPER, i don't know who you were but others did, and liked you it seems.
