I did intend to do something about LONDON CALLIN' some time ago but i lost all the 'bumpf' i was going to include with it (future gigs, etc), silly me (sorry 'B').
The night has been going for five years now and is London's only regular punk night, held at the 12 BAR CLUB, LONDON CALLIN' is held on the last Friday of every month and during its time has played host to many a well known (and good) band, the venue itself is small and is all the better for it. And when you are watching the bands on stage there is the unique standing space under the balcony where if you stand well back you can watch the band from the legs down which is funny, but that is only a tiny part of the club and doesn't speak for the rest of the venue.
Having a small venue adds to the experience of watching the bands because there isn't a feeling of 'us and them' which makes watching a band all the more better than seeing a band in a big venue, and the caliber of bands that has appeared there is a testament to how popular the place is with 'punters' and bands alike.
This is a good club and a good venue and one worth a trip to if ever you are in the area, to get information of upcoming bands and nights just tap over to www.myspace.com/londoncallin and as well as seeing who is going to play you can also see a selection of bands that you didn't see!
The only down side is that the drinks can be a little pricey but it is worth it to go to a Small, lively, friendly club that also plays music ranging from typical punk rock, to the Small faces, Slade, and more.
so remember, its the last Friday of every month, go go go.
