"this is when i get my best ideas"
The radio news this morning had an item about the many asian children who dissapear from the classroom not to be seen again because their parents think the kids have become too 'western' and how it was concerning the government, and then the next item was from a government announcement saying that they have come up with the plan to introduce an oath of loyalty that teenagers should pledge to the queen.
Now, erm, don't the two items contradict each other somewhat? what parent who is worried about their kids becoming 'too western' is then going to allow them to make an oath beholding them to the British monarchy? 'Nu' labour are like fishes on the shore flapping about uselessly, they don't even know what direction to go in. So i suppose we should all expect to be under the yoke of a Tory government after the next election - and they would be no better, they occupy the same political 'no mans land'. Since the early 1970's British politics has been fucked- has it always been this way? It feels like it to me.
(whooo, politics. draw back son!)
